I have witnessed therapy create insights and healing for people allowing them to feel more empowered and live a better life. Therapy offers tools to help you feel whole, especially when feeling overwhelmed or stressed.

It is my pleasure to help you navigate the highs and lows of life with empathy and understanding. Together, we’ll find the coping mechanisms that help you feel stronger and clearer about the best path forward.

My approach:

We’ll work together to uncover your inner strengths and acquire new skills that will become resources for the evolution of your life. We’ll have an interactive process that will go at your pace, focusing on different strategies to support your therapy goals.  Therapy helps you increase your personal insights while learning supportive and healthy behaviors to make positive changes in your life.

My background:

I am a bilingual LMFT in Washington, D.C. and Virginia. I have a Master’s Degree from American University in Washington, D.C. and I have been working as a therapist in various settings for over 10 years. I integrate multiple clinical models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).  I have extensive experience in providing counseling and therapy programs for state and federal governments and I have consulted with non-profit organizations supporting underserved populations in the U.S. and Latin America.  My clinical work has focused primarily on grief and loss, emotional regulation, relational health and challenging life transitions.

I grew up in an environment that was surrounded by political conflict and war, in Nicaragua. I have witnessed how trauma and conflict impacts families and behaviors in others. This is why I receive so much fulfillment from being a therapist.  I appreciate the opportunity to help others move beyond situations and leverage their inner resources to live a more peaceful and supportive life.

I enjoy spending time with my wife, daily exercise, being lectured by our older Maine Coon cat, and volunteering with the Sheriff’s Department and our community emergency preparedness office.
